The mind can pull itself through the snout of a tea kettle if it wants to
I’ll show you that it won’t shoot.
— Johnny Ace.
The universe/God presents an indifferent face. You get what you get, without intent, design, malice or warmth. Whether it’s God whose hand is on the throttle or blind chance, it is not meant for you personally. Only a fool would take any of it personally.
How not to take it personally? Because it’s written everywhere you look. There is nothing in the way of just desserts in this life. We have lottery winners and we have lightning strike survivors; cancer deaths, war deaths, infant deaths and at least one person who died when a big box of quarters fell on him.
Unbelievably villainous people sit by the pool and eat pasta salad, while the most benign souls you ever saw go hungry.
Trying to discern a plan in the Brownian motion of fate is madness.
You get what you get, and you do what you do. Do your best. Don’t take it personally.
